Last week, T-Mobile decided to finally officially unveil the Sidekick 4G, the Android-powered smartphone manufactured by Samsung that’s supposed to keep the very popular Sidekick brand alive (even if, software-wise, it will have nothing in common with the classic Sidekicks). The T-Mobile Sidekick 4G’s hardware, however, can be instantly recognized as being part of the Sidekick family from a mile away – that famous hinge is there, as well as the great QWERTY keyboard it reveals.
The only thing missing from T-Mobile’s announcement back then was pricing information, but now we have that as well. Engadget has found out that the new Sidekick will set you back $99.99 (after a $50 mail-in rebate) if you choose to sign a new two-year contract. You’ll also need to be getting a monthly unlimited data plan. If you don’t want unlimited data, the Sidekick 4G will be yours if you shell out $149.99.
The Sidekick 4G will be available via T-Mobile “later this Spring”, and it will available in two colors, matte black or pearl magenta.
