When Apple reveal their Back to School Promotion for 2011, the initial reaction was not that positive. Instead of a free iPod touch with Mac purchase, students now “only” get a $100 gift card for iTunes or app Store purchases.
AppleInsider reports that Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry issued a note saying that the Apple Back to School 2011 promotion is very effective. 80% of incoming students are apparently buying a Mac instead of a Windows PC. Considering that students get a free Xbox 360 with a Windows 7 computer purchase, this should be pretty alarming to Microsoft. Apple is just way cooler for students than a Microsoft based computers.
About the Apple Back to School Deal 2011:
When you buy a new qualifying Mac with Apple education pricing from June 16, 2011, through September 20, 2011, you’ll get a $100 Back to School Card to use on the Mac App Store, the App Store, the iTunes Store, and the iBookstore. Shop now on the Apple Store.
Besides the apparently great performance of the Apple Back to School Promotion, the supply issue of the iPad 2 eased a bit this week. You only have to wait 3-5 business days instead of 1-2 weeks for your iPad 2 to ship when you order it online. It is still not shipping in 24h as most other Apple products do.
