Steve Jobs, Apple co-founder, the legendary co-founder and former chief executive of Apple Inc, has died on Wednesday after a years-long battle with cancer. Here are his thoughts on everything from design to the internet and death itself.

TAXAN have come up with a solution, called the MeoTune, this gadget is a WiFi-enabled 1-Seg TV tuner that works on Android and iOS devices. The MeoTune tunes into local TV channels with regular airwaves, and transfers the content to smartphones over WiFi, which the phones can view with an app. The MeoTune has a battery life of up to four hours, which should be enough for most journeys, and can also function as an emergency battery charger for your smartphone (though your TV viewing time will be reduced). A pretty cool device, that probably won’t make it stateside, but hey – the next time you travel to Japan and you’re itching to watch TV, you won’t have to buy a new phone. [TB]

Apple unveiled the iPhone 4S at its Let’s Talk iPhone keynote in Cupertino today, and just a few hours later the iPhone 4S, known by the model number A1387, won FCC approval.  FCC filings don’t provide much detail, but they do confirm that the device will support both GSM and CDMA bands, making it a true world phone.  Another interesting note is like the Macbook Air, iPhone 4S will support Bluetooth 4.0 – a low power version of the spec.

Earlier today a new version of the iPhone 4 made an appearance on the FCC, with a few slight design tweaks.  And of course what’s most notable is what didn’t appear on the FCC today – the iPhone 5.  Contrary to rumors, we’ll be waiting a bit longer before Apple unveils the next gen iPhone. [WGN]

If contract free is the only way you like to roll, wireless provider Net10 is offering up a pair of LG Android devices for their $50 unlimited service. The LG Optimus Q and LG Optimus Net will be hitting Net10 in the coming days and if you’re interested, you can sign up to be notified as soon as these devices are released. Both devices feature 3.2-inch HVGA displays, 800MHz processors, 3MP cameras and running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

In case you’re not too familiar with Net10, they are a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) and a brand of TracFone offering both pay-as-you-go and prepaid monthly options. For only $50 you can get unlimited text, data and voice piggy backing on either AT&T or T-Mobile’s towers. Couple this with the MVNO’s first Android powered smartphones and you can save yourself a pretty penny if staying up to date with bleeding edge tech isn’t really “your thang.” [PH]

Google went through a lot to buy ITA and its travel software, and we saw the acquisition first bear fruit in the form of Mountain View’s web-based Flight Search. Now the partnership has produced version 1.2 of the OnTheFly airfare booking app for Android, iOS and BlackBerry. What’s new? Flexible date searches that let you peruse departures 35 days at a time, plus a price graph that shows the most fiscally prudent times to travel. Additionally, globetrotters can access their itinerary search history and see price changes for those fares throughout the year. Nice job fellas, now let’s work on bringing bargain-basement fare finding for the final frontier in the next revision. [engadget]

Sharp has officially announced their newest Android smartphone called Aquos SH8298U. The device is a 3D-capable Android smartphone. Aside from that, the SH8298U has glasses-free 3D features and a dual cameras on the back of 8-megapixels.

It packed with a 4.2-inch qHD display, a 1.4GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 single-core processor, 512MB of RAM, 2GB onboard storage, and a 1240mAh battery. The device is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS. The SH8298U comes in white and red colors. It will be available via SoftBank in Japan.

LG readying another budget-friendly Android phone dubbed LG Univa. LG Univa will arrive with Android Gingerbread 2.3.4 and packs a 3.5-inch display with HVGA resolution. It is powered by a 800MHz processor and 512MB of RAM. It’s features includes a 5MP camera and a 1,500mAh battery. Still no words on pricing yet but judging from it’s specs, expect Univa to arrive with a low price point

Although we still have to wait for an official confirmation on this, it looks like Sprint will finally get the chance to sell Apple’s iPhone (starting next month – October). We’ve already heard that Sprint could offer both the current iPhone 4 model, and the yet to come iPhone 5, and now we’re hearing even more details.

According to Bloomberg, Sprint wants to provide unlimited data plans to customers who will buy the iPhone. This way, the third largest US mobile carrier hopes to lure users from Verizon and AT&T, which don’t offer unlimited plans at all.

At the moment, Sprint’s unlimited plan (data and voice included) costs $99.99, and I assume the iPhone 5 unlimited plan will be priced similarly.

Sprint is expected to launch Apple’s new iPhone 5 in mid-October – just like AT&T and Verizon.
