T Mobile’s Springboard Will Be Available On November 9, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 On November 2

About a couple of weeks ago, T-Mobile decided to announce that it would be selling the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, alongside an own-brand 7-inch Android-powered tablet called Springboard. The Springboard is made by Huawei and was leaked right before the official unveiling.

When it announced these tablets, T-Mobile left out all details about their pricing and release dates. Today though, the carrier has subtly let us know when the tablets would arrive on the market, by adding this information to the their respective Web pages. The prices though continue to remain a mystery.

T-Mobile’s Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 will be available on November 2, which is shaping up to be a pretty big launch day for the magenta carrier. The HTC Radar 4G will also be released then, and earlier today a leak indicated that the LG Doubleplay will join it.

The T-Mobile Springboard will be out a bit later, on November 9, and, as you can see, the carrier promises that it will come with a “sweet price”. Let’s hope so, since so far subsidized Android tablets haven’t been very aggressively priced.

If you’d like for T-Mobile to send new information about either of these tablets directly to your inbox, go here for the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and here for the Springboard.

xoom wifi canada 03 21 2011 Motorola Xoom Will Get Updated With Ice Cream Sandwich, But When?

Now that Ice Cream Sandwich is real, the inevitable next step is a parade of announcement that certain devices will / won’t experience the latest and greatest flavor of Android. Xoom owners can breathe easy however, as a support forum mod (totally reliable source) confirms Moto will issue an update for its family-friendly tablet, but can’t say when we’ll see it. Feel free to check out our emulator-powered Android 4.0 tablet demo until then, but considering how long it took to slide LTE into those slabs, you should probably grab a Snickers.

samsung galaxy tab plus 7 Samsung Announces The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus For The US, Coming On November 13 For $399.99

Samsung has just announced the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus all over again, this time for the US market. This tablet was first unveiled by the Korean company last month. But back then there were absolutely no details about its availability and pricing in the US.

That changes today, with the press release basically serving just that one purpose. So, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will be available in the US starting on November 13 for $399.99. Pre-orders will officially start on October 23, which is this Sunday. That said, some retailers have already started taking pre-orders for this tablet a few days ago.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus is the true successor to the original Galaxy Tab unveiled last year. It also has a 7-inch 1024×600 screen, but runs Android Honeycomb, the tablet-optimized version of the OS, and has a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor, whereas its predecessor had to make do with just a single-core 1 GHz unit.

The Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus also comes with an infrared port, and an app called Peel that will let you control your home entertainment system (including TVs, set-top-boxes, DVD players, Blu-Ray players, and audio systems) regardless of its manufacturer.

The tablet will come with 16 GB of internal storage space and will be sold by Best Buy, Amazon, Tiger Direct, Fry’s, and others.

Sony Tablet P – A Very Unique And Attractive Tablet From Sony – Gadget Review

Sony Tablet P – A Very Unique And Attractive Tablet From Sony – Gadget Review

Sony Tablet P review Sony Tablet P – A Very Unique And Attractive Tablet From Sony – Gadget Review

Sony’s entry to the tablet market was pretty slow, with their S1 and S2 tablets having been announced quite a while ago, yet only now do we see a real demonstration of their capabilities. I have to say, the Tablet S is one of the nicest and most unique Android tablets on the market – it doesn’t try to look like the iPad, and its unique wedge shape is actually useful in the real world, as it makes it easier to use it on the go, in the office or at home.

Its smaller sibling, the Tablet P, is also a very unique device, but this time Sony treads on unknown waters – the dual screen design will surely find its users, but there may not be enough of them to make it a success. The only other device with this configuration is the Kyocera Echo smartphone, which doesn’t seem to enjoy a great deal of popularity, but that might be because of its strict and boring design.

The Tablet P looks pretty cool, on the other hand, with its round shape and small footprint (compared to the total surface of the screen). It actually reminds me of the Microsoft Arc mouse, which was meant to be ultra-portable thanks to its folding design. Just like the Arc, Sony’s Tablet P folds to half its size, but when it’s open, it has two 5.5 inch touch screens (each with a resolution of 1024×480 pixels) that form one big display or can be used separately – for games, various apps or to run the keyboard on one screen while seeing what you’re typing on the other.

That makes for a very interesting experience, although if you want to take full advantage of the display, you’ll need specially optimized apps, otherwise everything will be stretched across both screens, and the black line right in the middle doesn’t look very good (it’s pretty distracting, actually).

Performance-wise, everything should be in order. Unlike Kyocera, Sony knows that you need a powerful chipset to run two displays, and they equipped the Tablet P with a Tegra 2 running at 1 GHz per core – not the fastest thing on the planet, but definitely more than enough for the job. There’s also 1 GB of RAM that will ensure you can run all your apps at once without lags or force closes, as well as 4 GB of onboard storage, with a micro SD card for additional space if you need it in the future.

All the other cool stuff is also on board, and you have support for DLNA, a 3.5 mm audio out jack, Wifi N and Bluetooth 3.0, a 5 megapixels camera for photos and HD video and a VGA camera for video calls, and a pretty big 3080 mAh battery, which should last for about 7-8 hours – I wouldn’t bet on it lasting longer, but that’s good enough for most usage patterns.

Despite the form factor, Sony decided to install Android 3.2 Honeycomb on the Tablet P, with their own customizations to the skin, as well as to the core to allow for dual screen use. That makes the Tablet P unsuitable for the modding community, so I hope Sony will release updates in the future, although Honeycomb is pretty much the pinnacle of tablet only Android.

No word on the release date and pricing, but the tablet should be available sometime in the following months – maybe it’ll be ready by Christmas? The price is supposed to be lower than the Tablet S, but by how much is unknown.
