LG Optimus 2X Not Getting Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich

Now, that’s not a huge surprise – LG hasn’t even brought Android 2.3 Gingerbread to their dual-core Optimus 2X. It’s interesting to see, though, what’s the reasoning behind such decision from LG as Samsung in contrast has said that all previous devices with enough horsepower should be compatible with the 4.0 update.

The LG Optimus 2X was the very first handset to arrive with a dual-core processor, and it’s a bit more affordable than the rest of the dual-core crowd. At the same time, it offers top-notch specs, so it’s really a pity it won’t get Android’s latest version.

HTC Rhyme Lands In The UK Via O2, Free From £24 Per Month

The HTC Rhyme, the company’s first device aimed primarily at women, was announced last month for Verizon in the US, however we quickly heard that it would be making its way to the UK too. Over there, O2 was supposed to start selling the Rhyme on October 17 (so ten days ago), but when that didn’t happen, we got to thinking that the Rhyme was delayed in the UK.

We’re happy to report that there was in fact a delay, but a rather short one, for the Rhyme is now safely in stock at O2. The ‘plum’ color will be exclusive to O2 in the UK, and, as usual, the phone is being offered with a myriad of different contracts.

The cheapest monthly contract is £13.50 and nets you 50 minutes, 250 texts, and 100 MB of data, but you’ll have to shell out £104.99 for the phone upfront. The cheapest plan that allows you to get the Rhyme for free costs £24 per month and comes with 300 minutes, unlimited texts, and 100 MB of data. That said, there are other options, so make sure you check them all out before hitting that all-important Add to basket button.

The HTC Rhyme has a 3.7-inch 800×480 touchscreen, a 1 GHz processor, a 5 MP autofocus camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a secondary front-facing camera for video calls, 4 GB of built-in storage, microSD card support, 768 MB of RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, HSPA, and a 1,600 mAh battery.

xoom 4g Motorola Xoom LTE Now Available

Existing Motorola Xoom tablet owners probably had to deal with the hassle, wait and slight delays in sending their tablet back to the company in order for them to upgrade it to be LTE compatible. The good news for those who have held out on getting the tablet is that the Motorola Xoom LTE edition is now available from Verizon’s and Motorola’s stores.

As far as its tech specs are concerned, it has remained exactly the same as the current Xoom tablets, with the addition of 4G radios. This means that customers can expect a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra-2 dual-core processor under the hood with 1GB of RAM, a 10.1” display and Android’s Honeycomb 3.2 on board. The LTE version of the Motorola Xoom tablet will set you back $499 (32GB version) on a two year contract with Verizon, while the off-contract model will cost you $649. While LTE would be pretty sweet, would you rather hold out for the rumored Xoom 2 instead?
