Smartphone manufacturers far and wide have been releasing a whole slew of high quality offerings onto the market where they are met with consumer praise. However, based on the manufacturer, it takes a few tries before things settle out and their ideal top of the line smartphone is found.
LG, in particular, hasn’t had any devices hit the market that have been very noteworthy other than the forthcoming Optimus 2X which was announced as the first NVIDIA Tegra 2 powered smartphone on the market. But during Mobile World Congress LG came forth to show off the Revolution which, judging by its looks and specs, may be their winner. While the device doesn’t have a release date, it was just spotted at the FCC which, in some cases, means it’s coming soon. In terms of a carrier we do know that it’s been announced for Verizon Wireless so an official announcement shouldn’t be too far off.
Just a quick run down of the specs for those who don’t remember: the LG Revolution features a 4.3-inch touchscreen display, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, 16GB of internal storage, a 56 megapixel rear facing camera with 720p video capture. a 1.3 megapixel front facing camera and Google’s Android.

Expected to be released in the US before the end of this month, the BlackBerry PlayBook will come with a little musical surprise: RIM has partnered with 7digital and will pre-install the British company’s Music Store on the tablet.
This means that PlayBook owners will have access to more than13 million high-quality MP3s included in 7digital’s catalogue. Songs won’t be free, of course. They’ll be priced similarly to the prices you can find at the official 7digital website.
The 7digital Music Store is a perfect complement to the high-performance BlackBerry PlayBook, providing users with fast searches and downloads, and a slick interface that makes it very easy to discover, purchase and enjoy music,” declared Alistair Mitchell, Vice President, BlackBerry Messenger Platform & Integrated Services.

Although the HP Pre 3 has been announced recently, Verizon has only gotten around to starting selling the Palm Pre 2 in the second half of last month. Having the newer model announced while trying to sell the older model can clearly hurt sales, and Verizon’s decision to stock the Pre 2 so late (after all, it’s been announced by HP in October of last year) makes little sense.
However, there’s good news for those in love with webOS. You can now get your very own webOS 2-based device, the Pre 2, on Verizon in the US, for free. Not $199, not $99, free.
HP will give a Pre 2 to you for free, but you have to sign a new two-year contract with Verizon. But if you were after the Pre 2 specifically, or don’t much care for the Pre 3, or just want a webOS device now, this is probably for you.
So head straight over to HP’s Wireless Central Store and get your free Pre 2 while supplies last.

A Chinese blog unveiled some pictures of the upcoming Windows Phone 7 from Sony Ericsson. These pictures show a device clearly labelled as a prototype and not for sale, and it shows an attractive, large-screened and relatively thin slider.
The UI is clearly from a very old build of Windows Phone 7, and it has been suggested by some of our readers that this may be a scrapped handset after Microsoft and Sony Ericsson could not come to an agreement around Xbox Live after Mobile World Congress 2011. As we know that Sony Ericsson was after all one of the announced launch partners at the time.
In fact we have a report from June 2010 of a device called the Sony Ericsson Julie, which was said to feature a 4 inch screen like the SE X10, a sliding QWERTY keyboard and a 1 Ghz processor, standard for the Windows Phone 7 platform.
On the other hand we have had recent reports that Sony Ericsson is still working on a Windows Phone 7 handset, and what would be easier than to resurrect a mothballed project? More Pictures after the jump

This is interesting The LG Quantum smartphone costs for only $0.01 from AT&T, but why doesn’t AT&T selling this LG Quantum for FREE? It is not an indication that WP7 phone are not selling much nor indication that AT&T is in any desperation or something but the carrier has just offering the LG Quantum phone for just $0.01. Yes just one cent, maybe this is because many carrier already offer some devices for free, and AT&T want to be just different. Of course it is attached to a two-year contract with a minimum $15/month data plan dor 200MB data monthly. Absolutely it still a good offer for a smallest Windows Phone 7 smartphone with slider qwerty keyboard. LG Quantum boast a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, a slider keyboard, a 1GHz processor, 5MP camera and other features.

HTC has just release a new name for it’s Facebook friendly smartphone which is named as ChaCha Facebook. In Spain, “chacha” is often used as a term of derision, so HTC decided to rebrand its new handset and call it ChaChaCha there (yup, like the Latin American dance / music style). I’m not sure if adding one more Cha can be called rebranding, but anyway.
Just like in the UK and other European markets, in Spain the HTC ChaCha(Cha) should be released in the second quarter of the year. It will run Android 2.4, featuring a full QWERTY keyboard, a dedicated Facebook button, 2.6 inch HVGA touchscreen display, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, GPS, 5MP photo camera, VGA camera for video calling, 600MHz processor, and MicroSD card support.

For those who want a spanking new Android 2.2 smartphone without breaking the bank, you surely won’t go wrong with the Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 from O2 UK which will arrive sometime in March. Just like how names do their part in letting one know just what kind of handset you can expect, the Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 certainly lives up to its name, being rather small in stature.
However, we are pleased to say that the specifications crammed into this puppy is far from small – you have a staple 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS support, a handy 3.2-megapixel camera to snap impromptu shots, and a 3.14 inch QVGA display not to mention at 600MHz processor to run proceedings from within. Granted, this is not a speed demon by any means, but it will definitely be more than enough for everyday communications.
Apart from the Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570 , O2 will also begin to sell the Samsung Galaxy Ace S5830 next month. Just in case that sounds familiar, it is because said phone is already available at Three UK. This is a beefier version with its 800MGz processor and HVGA touchscreen display, so be prepared to fork out more then.
