As we’ve told you countless times in the past the Galaxy S from Samsung is one of the most popular smartphones on the market powered by Google’s Android mobile platform. Much of this success, as you’re sure to know, can be attributed to the fact that the Galaxy S has appeared in one form or another on pretty much every major carrier here in the United States. But, Samsung isn’t looking to kill off the Galaxy S brand anytime soon – not by a long shot.
In facy, they’ve already made known that they will be releasing an official successor to the device appropriately dubbed the Galaxy S 2 but that’s not the only successor the highly popular Android phone will be getting. If you’ve been paying attention you’ll know that just the other day we let you in on a rumor that the Galaxy S would be getting another successor dubbed the Galaxy S Plus. Now, Samsung has come forth to officially announce the device saying it will initially be coming to Russia as the Samsung Galaxy S 2011 Edition.
Just as the rumors had suggested the Galaxy S Plus will feature a 1.4GHz processor, 4-inch AMOLED display and will come complete with Google’s latest Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3. Unfortunately, there was no word on when the device will be making it to the United States if at all so we’ll have to keep you posted on that front.
