ViewSonic has come forward with an announcement for their latest smartphone offering. The handset is the ViewSonic V430 and while we have an official announcement, we are left wondering how widespread this release will end up being.

You see, at present the ViewSonic V430 has been announced for the Russian market. And so far, the details have only included Russia. In fact, the press release was in Russian and from what we can see, is suggesting that the V430 will only be available there.

That being said, pricing and carriers were also not mentioned. That aside though, this handset seems similar in specs to that of the ViewPad 4, with one notable exception — the version of Android. But before we get into that, given other markets will have the ViewPad 4 available, maybe the V430 is to simply take that place in Russia.

Either way, as of now that is nothing more than speculation and we can only go with what facts we have. So moving past that, lets get into the specs, beginning with Android. The ViewSonic V430 is going to arrive running Android 2.2 Froyo. Yup, a bit disappointing on that front, especially considering the ViewPad 4 is going to have Gingerbread.

Otherwise, the V430 will arrive sporting a 4.3 inch (480 x 800) WVGA display, 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 512MB ROM, 512MB RAM, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3.5 mm headphone jack, GPS, VGA quality front facing camera and a 5 megapixel rear facing camera. And lastly, the V430 will also have the ViewScene 3D interface.

And for those making the comparison with the ViewPad 4, aside from the version of Android the only other hardware spec that varies is the display which measures in at 4.1 inches, though it is still noted as being WVGA and capacitive. In the end, the V430 and the ViewPad 4 may end up being rather similar aside from the version of Android and the exterior design.
