Oh my. Tablet prices are in a free fall. The HTC Flyer is only $99 at Best Buy right now. The price seems isolated to Best Buy right now so it’s likely the price drop is not from HTC but rather Best Buy. The website is sold out but your local stores still might have some. You know what to do: drop everything and head down to your Best Buy. This is an awesome deal and hopefully a sign that manufacturers and retailers are finally getting aggressive.
HP started the fire sale trend by dropping the TouchPad down to $99. Even with a dead OS, the TouchPad was an amazing deal for $99. HP and retailers sold out within hours. The HTC Flyer might be a slightly smaller tab, but it rocks a proven Android release and is built quite nice. It’s a steal at $99.
RIM also recently cut the price of its tablet, the PlayBook, to $300. But it’s still overpriced. Amazon got it right with the $200 Kindle Fire. Consumers need a low enough price that the purchase feels like a deal. Non-iPad tablets are going to be treading water until they’re priced right. It’s unrealistic to expect $99 mainstream tablets, but prices still need to drop to a more competitive level.
As liliputing points out, the Best Buy Flyer sale might have been an accident but it’s also a great deal worth pursuing. Drop everything and head down to your local Best Buy emporium and tell the blue-shirted shopkeeps to bring forward your Flyer post-haste.

Information regarding the release of LG’s Optimus 3D in the UK has been a little sketchy up until now; we’ve just heard that Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy will be stocking the dual-core Android smartphone in stores and on-line from this Friday, the 1st of July – and not the 7th as previously thought.
The Optimus 3D arrives in 20 select Carphone and Best Buy stores five days ahead of the phone’s general release. You’ll be able to get it free on a £35 a month contracts on O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone or buy it SIM-free for £499.95 from this Friday; it’ll be available to buy in stores nationwide from the 6th.
Coming with a dual 5-megapixel camera unit, similar to the one in HTC’s Evo 3D which we saw the other day, you’ll be able to take and record 2D and 3D pictures and video. You can record 1080p 2D video on the Optimus 3D, and 3D video at 720p.
Naturally, it’s a dual-core beast, running on Texas Instrument’s OMAP 4430 1GHz chip. Interestingly, LG claims that the Optimus 3D boasts ‘dual-memory’, assigning half of the RAM to each of the processor’s cores, allowing for smarter multitasking. Specs we’ve seen for the Optimus 3D say that you get 512MB of RAM; we’re assuming this means you get 2 x 2 56MB. It’ll be interesting to see how this compares performance-wise to phones like the Evo 3D and Samsung’s Galaxy S2 which have 1GB of RAM, twice the amount.
We’ve just taken delivery of our LG Optimus 3D review until as well as it happens – stay tuned for some hands-on pics and our first impressions coming soon.

Plenty of you have been clamoring about Virgin Mobile’s upcoming pre-paid phone, the Motorola Triumph, and it looks like you can now go ahead and place a pre-order at Best Buy if you have $300 sitting around.
Yes folks, the phone still doesn’t have an official release date – we’re hearing July 19th – but Best Buy has thrown it up on its website anyway. Estimated arrival time is anywhere between July 19th – yup – and July 26th. We’re going to assume that it arrives sooner rather than later.
Many of you had been hoping that the phone would arrive for a price tag around $200-$250 but that doesn’t appear to be the case, at least not here. Instead, you’re going to have to fork over three Benjamins in order to get a hold of this beauty.
And just to go over the specifications again, the Triumph will have a 4.1″ display (800×480 WVGA), 5MP back-facing camera and VGA front-facing camera, 720p playback and capture, 1400 mAh battery, 512MB of RAM, 2GB of on-board storage, Android 2.2 Froyo, and a form factor that checks in at .4 inches at its thinnest point.
You can head over to Best Buy to pre-order right now if you wish.

The Nexus S 4G is available for pre-order from Best Buy’s website, meaning it can be yours without encountering a single smurf-shirted employee. Sprint’s version of the Nexus S, now with WiMAX support, features a pure Gingerbread OS that’s a perfect match for Google Voice. This Sammy sells for $199 with a two-year agreement, and while you’re welcome to try your luck at a retail outlet, just be sure they don’t give you T-Mobile’s version.

Sprint Nexus S 4G is very own version of the Samsung-made Google Nexus S, a couple of weeks ago, and since then, Best Buy has started taking pre-orders for the Google device. However, we still don’t know when exactly this phone will start shipping to eager Sprint and/or Best Buy customers.
Earlier today it seemed like this dilemma was put to rest once and for all, as according to MobileBurn, BestBuy updated its pre-order page for the Sprint-specific Nexus S and stated that the handset would start shipping on April 6. That’s only a couple of days away, but sadly in a short while Best Buy changed their site yet again, and now it reads “coming soon” again. All references to April 6 have been removed.
Obviously, this can mean one of two things. Either someone at Best Buy made a mistake and posted erroneous information on the website, or perhaps the release date actually will be April 6, but someone mistakingly posted the date too soon. Although with only two days remaining until April 6, it’s kind of questionable why Best Buy would like to still keep that info secret.
Anyway, we’ll find out in exactly two days what this was. Until then, those of you eager to get their Nexus S 4G have something to be hopeful for.

The TELUS Optimus One will be launching soon – Best Buy has graciously outed the price of this Android 2.2 device for everyone to see at $199.99 no-contract. No word on the other contract prices but it’s a good bet that it’ll come in low. As for specs on the Optimus One it has a 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 320×480, a 600MHz processor, 3 megapixel camera (auto-focus and video capabilities), GPS, WiFi, Bluetooth
and holds up to 32GB with a microSD card. [BEST BUY]

According to our source the upcoming Samsung Intensity II which is tipped to arrive via Verizon Wireless soon has been spotted at Best Buy. The picture above has confirmed that the Intensity II will feature a full QWERTY sliding keyboard, a 2-megapixel camera, Bluetooth connectivity and a pretty cheap $1 price tag from Best Buy as long as you agree to a 2-year contract. If you don’t want to buy this with any contract you can purchase it for $249.99 for an unlocked handset. This looks like a basic phone which is functional enough for the masses.[UG]
