A phone enthusiast named DJ_Steve has kept the Dell Streak fresh, thanks to a series of hacked ROMs, dubbed StreakDroid. The latest version, 2.0.0 (or GingerStreak, if you’re feeling cute) brings Gingerbread to the 5-inch smartphone — expanding on the last ROM, which gave hackers the option of selecting Gingerbread’s app launcher.
As always, though, dear Steve has noted a handful of bugs in the ROM’s early stages, including issues with the Superuser app, less-than-stellar graphics performance, and the fact that both GPS and 720p video recording require an engineering baseband and DSP to be flashed. As of this writing, all of the comments are from Streak owners eager to download this for themselves. We assume you are, too, so let us know how the new ROM works out for ya.

I’m so happy to hear that T-Mobile has just recently posted the official listing for the Dell Streak 7 as you can see from the leaked picture above. We don’t know about the release date yet, but we believe it will be launched in the coming weeks.

If you are one of the Dell Streak owners then this is a good news for you, because we have an update for those of you with a Dell Streak who are anxiously waiting for any details regarding the update to Android 2.2 Froyo, as Dell has once again reiterated that the update will be available before the end of the year.
The end of the year could be on December, The company are now also stopping any updates to Android 2.1 Eclair, I believe this is because trhey want to keep their focus on the Froyo update.
Here it is the official statement by Dell
”Due to resources and commitments to get our global customers the 2.2/Froyo update by the end of the year, we will not be publishing another version of 2.1 nor will we be pushing out 2.1 to additional customers. I can tell you that our target date is NOT December 31st. In fact, the over-the-air update to 2.2 is target date is much sooner than that. ”
So Dell Streak owners, what do you think about this?
