HTC Tells Apple to Stop Suing, Start Competing

HTC Apple lawsuit statement 7132011114820 HTC Tells Apple to Stop Suing, Start Competing

Apple has been going to suing spree, and has another patent suit aimed at Taiwanese mobile makers. But the Taiwanes company is avoiding ligation (for now), and instead choose to rebuke Apple with a few choice statements.  ”HTC is disappointed at Apple’s constant attempts at litigations instead of competing fairly in the market,” said HTC general counsel Grace Lei in statement.

The Taiwanese mobile maker dismissed the fresh patent infringement claims by Apple. Cupertino filed a complaint against HTC with US International Trade Commission (ITC) which is already reviewing three disputes between the two, over patents linked to iPad and iPhone.

Apple accuses HTC of patent infringements, which amounts up to 16 devices. All of the devices are Android powered, and includes the HTC Flyer, the HTC Thunderbolt among others. Lei added, “HTC strongly denies all infringement claims raised by Apple in the past and present and reiterates our determination and commitment to protect our intellectual property rights.”

HTC is not the only company on Apple’s radar, those currently in ligation with Apple are Samsung, GetJar and Amazon. Whatever happened to the focusing those legal fees and time on the next iPhone?

htc glamor HTC Glamor a Smartphone Designed for Women?

Closely following Nokia’s launch of the pastel-heavy N9 comes evidence that HTC is working on a brightly-colored model of its own, codenamed HTC Glamor. Although not much is yet known about this handset tipped for availability in pink, yellow, and light blue. There is some context to suggest that it is the HTC Bliss female-focused smartphone first tipped by This is my next early last month.

However, that report described a “greenish” device reminiscent of the Desire S and Desire Z, while Glamor looks more like Incredible S at the top and Sensation at the bottom, in our opinion. Still, even if Glamor and Bliss are not the same product, the color scheme alone as well as the codename  makes a female-targeted marketing campaign for Glamor almost a certainty.

sense3 thunderbolt hacked Thunderbolt Gets Sense 3.0 Through The Back Door

Before HTC announced that the Thunderbolt wouldn’t receive Sense 3.0, perhaps it should have consulted the dev community. That’s because a determined group of modders have successfully massaged HTC’s latest skin onto the popular Das BAMF Gingerbread ROM. The current iteration has some bugs, including a glitchy front-facing camera (that you can remedy by switching from widescreen to 4:3 capture), but it’s now at release candidate status and awaiting a final coat of gloss. If you’ve got to have it now — and have no interest in HTC’s upcoming Android 2.3.4 build — you’ll need a rooted phone, S-Off status, and Clockwork Recovery to load the flashable ROM, along with the MR2 radio (preferably). Love what you see? Consider donating to the devs so they can show their neglected significant others a night on the town — after cranking out the final version, of course.

evo4 720x3801 650x366 Best Buy Start to open stores early for EVO 3D launch

The HTC EVO 3D is set to launch in a couple of days and to say that people are excited for the device would be an understatement. Whether or not the 3D aspect is ready for prime time or not, it certainly hasn’t calmed the anticipation of the device. Best Buy will be selling the EVO launch day and will even open its doors early for the launch.
Even if the EVO didn’t come with the novel new technology of a glasses-free 3D display, we’d still like the phone. The handset itself is a solid upgrade from the original, boasting a snappy 1.2GHz dual-core processor and a 4.3 inch qHD display. If those two specs are all you crave, some may be happy to find the Sensation 4G on T-Mobile, which is already available, but Sprint loyalists who have been awaiting the Evo 4G successor won’t be disappointed.
All Best Buy stores, along with some select standalone Best Buy Mobile stores will open at 8 a.m. local time for the launch of the EVO 3D, allowing you to grab this hot handset earlier than you would than any Sprint store at the time.
If you just can’t wait the couple of hours until your local Sprint store opens up on the 24th, Best Buy has you covered.
Grab it at Best Buy on Friday starting at 8 a.m.

htc evo 4g plus lrg HTC Rider Revealed as HTC EVO 4G+

Here is the HTC Rider, a Korea-bound handset based on the EVO 3D — although unlike that model, this one has neither 3D capture nor playback capabilities. It will be sold under the name HTC EVO 4G+, closely following the EVO WiMax which recently landed at KDDI Japan.

Besides the omission of 3D, specs are largely the same as found in last month’s leaked ROM: 1.2GHz dual-core CPU, 4.3-inch qHD display, and 1GB of RAM. Instead of dual five-megapixel cameras, however, EVO 4G+ packs a 1080p-capable eight-megapixel shooter along with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing cam. The 2D/3D toggle switch has been repurposed to select between still and video camera modes.

In terms of connectivity, EVO 4G+ offers Korea’s WiBro flavor of WiMax, 14.4Mbps HSPA+ cellular broadband on the 900MHz and 2100MHz bands, DLNA-enabled 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 3.0. Expect an official announcement with pricing and release details in short order.

htc hidden wifi HTC Releases Hidden WiFi App For Windows Phone

While Microsoft’s Windows Phone 7 supports WiFi by default, it’s part of the hardware specs every device have to follow, the Windows Phone 7 UI is rather simplistic and only shows WiFi networks which are broadcasting the SSID (WiFi network name). As a matter of fact it means that Windows Phone 7 devices are unable to connect to networks which are hidden and not broadcasting their SSID – for security reasons.

However, HTC has just released a tool called “Hidden Wi-Fi” which allows users to add 3 WiFi access points with hidden networks to the device list of WiFi networks. After the hidden network is added, it can be connected like any other WiFi network. Hidden network is now available free of charge from the Windows Phone Marketplace but exclusively available for HTC Windows Phone 7 customers

2011 02 25mergep HTC Merge coming to Alltel, preloaded with Amazon Appstore on Cellular South

The elusive HTC Merge has been on our radar since last fall, and while it’s been officially announced, played with, and FCC approved, carrier availability has been all but a mystery — until now that is. Alltel is presently taking pre-orders for the Merge with a price of $125 on contract (after $50 mail-in rebate) and a ship date of April 5th. Meanwhile, Cellular South is launching the Merge “next month” for an undisclosed price, but will offer the handset pre-loaded with the Amazon Appstore for Android — a world first.

Strangely, there’s still no indication when (or even if) the device will emerge on Verizon. Just a quick recap: the Merge is a global smartphone (dual-mode CDMA / GSM) with a slide-out keyboard, 3.8-inch touchscreen, and 5 megapixel autofocus camera, running Android 2.2 with Sense UI. Hit the source link below for Alltel’s pre-order page, and jump past the break for Cellular South’s press release.
