That Motorola EX225 Facebook phone that we’ve been telling you about since September has been made official by the company, under the rather odd name of MotoKey Social.
According to the phone’s official product page, “If your Founding Fathers are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Gmail, MotoKey is your smartphone.” But don’t get fooled by the inclusion of Gmail here: the MotoKey is not an Android handset.
The new device obviously features a dedicated Facebook button, full QWERTY keyboard, 2.4 inch QVGA touchscreen display, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1, 3.5mm headset jack, 3MP camera, and MicroSD card support.
For the moment, the MotoKey Social shows up only at Motorola Canada, so I guess that’s the country where it will be released first (apparently via Telus). We don’t know when exactly, though, and neither for what price (it should be a low one).

Existing Motorola Xoom tablet owners probably had to deal with the hassle, wait and slight delays in sending their tablet back to the company in order for them to upgrade it to be LTE compatible. The good news for those who have held out on getting the tablet is that the Motorola Xoom LTE edition is now available from Verizon’s and Motorola’s stores.
As far as its tech specs are concerned, it has remained exactly the same as the current Xoom tablets, with the addition of 4G radios. This means that customers can expect a 1GHz NVIDIA Tegra-2 dual-core processor under the hood with 1GB of RAM, a 10.1” display and Android’s Honeycomb 3.2 on board. The LTE version of the Motorola Xoom tablet will set you back $499 (32GB version) on a two year contract with Verizon, while the off-contract model will cost you $649. While LTE would be pretty sweet, would you rather hold out for the rumored Xoom 2 instead?

There are quite a few companies that have released cellphones dedicated to the social network – Facebook – such as the Vodafone 555 that was put on sale last month, but it seems that Motorola wants to join the Facebook party and will soon release a new device also known as the Motorola EX225.
There aren’t many exact details about the Motorola EX225, but we do know that it will have a full QWERTY keyboard, a 2.4-inch display screen, and on top of the special Facebook button there is also going to be a big Facebook integration on the UI – user interface. Rumors don’t mention that Android will be the operative system, so it is probably going to based on Brew.
Besides the Motorola EX225 with the Facebook button and integration, there is another model codenamed EX226 that won’t have the Facebook button and is actually a dual-SIM cellphone, meaning it can handle 2 SIM cards at the same time.

This is the first time we get to see the Droid Bionic in clear hands-on photos. Gotta Be Mobile has managed to spend some time with the Bionic, and published four photos of it, showing it from all four sides. These images don’t bring any new details, save maybe for the blogger’s comment about the new Droid being “clunky” – well, it’s a 4.3 inch device after all, you can’t expect it not to be massive.

Verizon should launch the Motorola Droid Bionic sometime in September. The smartphone will feature LTE, global roaming capabilities, Android 2.3 Gingerbread, dual-core processor, and an 8MP rear camera with flash and 1080p video recording. Pricing on contract will probably be north of $200.

Motorola has just announced the Motorola FIRE/SPICE Key (XT316). The device targeted for heavy texters. It will be hitting Hong Kong, Taiwan and Latin America by now. Followed directly by Europe and Asia later this Summer. For folks in Latin America, the device will be known as Motorola SPICE Key. While in Europe, the device will be known as Motorola FIRE.
The handset has a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen, 3-megapixel camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, compass, accelerometer, light and proximity sensors, 3.5mm headset hack and a microSD memory card slot. We have seen so much of the Droid 3 the past few weeks I’m just excited it will finally be launching so we can all get some time with the device already. We have seen 360 degree views of the handset, and leaked accessories hitting Verizon stores already so its no surprise it is coming soon.
With official pricing and release date still up in the air we did here it would be launching July 14th in stores and available for direct fill starting tomorrow, July 7th. This still hasn’t been officially confirmed but we should know soon enough.
Our friends at Droid-Life have now heard the phone will launch at the expected price of $199 with a new 2-year contract like most smartphones are priced, but they also state to buy it outright with no contract at full retail it will only be $459. Sounds like a lot but most phones like the Droid X2 or HTC Sensation 4G are usually $499 or more off contract. It is a pretty powerful smartphone with a 4″ high-res screen and that dual-core processor so you should all be pretty excited about now. We will report back if we hear more.

Motorola has announced an interesting Android-powered smartphone for China Mobile today. The Motorola MT870 is the world’s first dual-core smartphone to be able to access China Mobile’s TD-SCDMA network, which is that particular carrier’s rather unique flavor of 3G.
The Motorola MT870 has a dual-core 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, a 4-inch qHD (540×960) capacitive touchscreen, an 8 MP autofocus rear camera with dual-LED flash and 720p HD video recording, a secondary front-facing VGA camera, 1080p HD video playback, the aforementioned 3G support, Wi-Fi 802.11n, Bluetooth, HDMI out, DLNA, 8 GB internal storage space, microSD card support, GPS, 512 MB of RAM, and an 1880 mAh battery. The phone runs Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread.
The Motorola MT870 comes with Motorola and China Mobile’s brand new combined app store called Shop4Apps, which offers a ‘huge’ number of apps designed specifically for the Chinese market. The phone also comes with various China Mobile services such as Fetion, TeleNav, 139 Mail, and CMMB. It has QuickOffice, Sticky Notes, and business card scanning apps preinstalled.
The Motorola MT870 will become available from authorized Motorola resellers and China Mobile’s stores across China sometime in July for the recommended retail price of RMB 4,680 (that’s approximately $725 or €500 at today’s exchange rates).

UK owners of Motorola’s rough and ready DEFY smartphone rejoice, your phones are finally getting an update to Android 2.2 Froyo after languishing around with 2.1 Eclair for what seems like forever. T-Mobile USA customers have been enjoying the benefits of Froyo since April, but the update has just now crossed the pond to the UK. The update brings all of the usual niceties that come along with Android 2.2, including faster performance, the ability to move apps to the SD card, and Adobe Flash Player support. Users can head over to Motorola’s support site to download the update now. Now users can move on to complaining about when the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update will arrive.

We have another unannounced android smartphone which has just appeared on Amazon site. You might probably notice, last week we have seen the Atrix 4G and Inspire 4G on Amazon site for $149.99 and $99.99. And now we are looking at Motorola DROID Bionic on Amazon website. Though there’s no released date yet but Amazon has posted its price for $149.99. Like both Atrix 4G and Inspire 4G, there’s possibility that Verizon will add extra $50 to $100 on Motorola DROID Bionic pricing. [SP]
