A few months to a year ago Android haters would frequently point towards the fact that it takes very long for new updates to hit any given phone. While this has largely been remedied, there are still many phones on the market not running the latest Android ‘Gingerbread’ 2.3. This is sure to have owners of such phones a bit flustered due to the fact that the update has been out for so long.
One such device that still hasn’t been updated to Gingerbread is none other than the Motorola Droid Pro. This device, if you aren’t aware, features typical mid-range Android specs while adding in a physical QWERTY keyboard very reminiscent of the BlackBerry form factor. But on the software side of things, like I mentioned above, this device is running just Android ‘Froyo’ 2.2 and not the more up to date 2.3.
Luckily, reports have begun surfacing today that say the Droid Pro’s Gingerbread update is in fact completed and will be on its way to handsets sometime soon. Unfortunately we don’t know exactly when the update will be pushed out but as always we’ll keep you posted as more information is made available.

After all the leaks, rumors, photographs, videos and speculations, it took Verizon and Motorola their sweet time, but they finally did it. Earlier today, the two companies officially announced the launch of the Droid X2. With all its specs confirmed prior to today, it wasn’t really much of a surprise, but we’ve discovered some new features of the phone and its price on contract.
The Motorola Droid X2 will have a 4.3″ scratch-resistant, anti-reflective qHD display, dual-core 1GHz processor, Mirror Mode through HDMI output, 8megapixel rear camera, WiFi, GPS, and Bluetooth. It also comes preloaded with enterprise-ready security and IT-grade policies. With Mobile hotspot capabilities, the Droid X2 can share its 3G connection with up to 5 other WiFi-enabled devices. It will also ship with Android 2.2, though an upgrade to Android 2.3 is promised.
The Droid X2 will be available online today from the Verizon online store, while it will only be available at retail outlets starting next week, May 26th. The phone will cost $199.99 with a 2-year contract on Verizon. Anyone interested? Go grab it.

Good news for LG Ally and Droid X Owners which use the Verizon service because Verizon are releasing the updates for this two smartphone this week. Though neither the LG Ally and Droid X will get the much anticipated Froyo update, they are getting a few necessary improvements and features. The Droid X has just been out about a week, but it’s not surprising that a maintenance release has been issued while The LG Ally update is smaller overall, yet very similar.

The update is said to increase QWERTY keyboard operability as well as the speed and response time for the messaging and camera applications. Read more at CNET

Good news for Every DROID users! folks, the Android 2.2 Froyo is now available to be upgraded. But please remember that this is unofficial yet, so if you brave enough to take any risk and you don’t want to wait any longer to feel the Froyo experience then you can update it HERE, and take a note that for now this version upgrade doesn’t support Wi-Fi yet. My suggestion is please be patient and wait a while until the official Froyo update from the Motorola company itself. [Gadgetell]

Are you tired of waiting the Android 2.1 upgrade? yes I believe some of you are sick of waiting after several delays. Here we have a good news for you! there is now a manual upgrade option for you to utilize. The update process seems simple enough, all you’re going to have to do is grab a file from Google, rename it and put it on a microSD card and then reboot your device to recovery mode. Don’t believe it? why don’t you check it yourself here.

This is what you’ve been waiting for, an Android 2.1 update for the Motorola DROID owners. However, all handsets will not be updated in the beginning as it’s a phased rollout. According to Android Central they explain that:
“The first batch of 1,000 updates will be pushed out at 9 a.m. PDT.
Assuming all goes well, another 9,000 updates will go out at 8:59 p.m. PDT.
After that, there’s a 24-hour waiting period (to make sure all’s still well.)
Then 200,000 updates will go out on Saturday, March 20.
Another batch of 200,000 goes out after that, until everyone has the update.”
Wow I believe android owner will be very excited with this!

Motorola MILESTONE
The current Motorola Droid is running on Android 2.0.1 and it’s not good enough, I believe you want the fresh and latest update like live wallpapers but the update seems slow. Well we have a new hope here, Vivacom as Bulgarian carrier will be offering Motorola MILESTONE which will be running on Android 2.1 on the next march 20th. Is that means the rest of Europe will get the update? we don’t know yet but at least this MILESTONE launching will give us some hope. [Slashphone]

I know Droid users will hate this post, but i am sorry guys i am just informing you. According to Motorola Support forums, The Android 2.1 update for Motorola Droid is delayed and it’s not coming this week. The forum Manager said that The details posted here and on the Support site were prematurely released for public view and they have been removed from both places. So what it means? No update this week. I know it’s really a bad news. May be Motorola will launch the Android 2.1 update for Droid during MWC. [BGR]

A good news for Motorola Droid users. And the good news is that the Android 2.1 is coming on Moto Droid soon. According to Engadget, Android 2.1 update is making its way through Verizon’s testing department . And the new update will come with following features:
- Android2.1-update1 build that Google put out last week on the Nexus One.
- Multitouch in the browser, to go along with the pinch-to-zoom that was enabled on the Droid for Google Maps just last week.
- Google Googles is baked into the ROM by default .
- The Droid’s home screen remains as is — no new rotating app thingy instead of the drawer, and no live wallpapers.
- The news and weather widget from the Nexus One will be included.
Wow. Lot of new stuff. I think Droid users are now happy. What you guys say?[PA]
