2011 is coming and Motorola company plans to release a couple of new DEFY-like rugged handsets in the summer of 2011. These next rugged handsets will still carry the IP54 International Protection code for rugged handsets, which grants them “a degree of protection against falling dirt, rain, sleet, snow, and windblown dust. As a comparison, the Motorola DEFY supports the IP67 code for a waterproof rugged device. What’s more, the upcoming Motorola rugged phones should use a candybar form factor similar to the DEFY. Even the Android Froyo 2.2 is out and tested on Google Nexus One already but it doesn’t mean that all the high-end Android smartphone will be starting to get it now. That’s why Motorola Milestone / Droid has just been introduced in South Korea still running on Android 2.1. The well known Motorola Milestone / Droid comes with a new name, dubbed as Moto QRTY. The Moto QRTY is the same as the Milestone / Droid, the only different is it does have a keyboard with Korean characters.
But don’t worry since the US will get the Froyo Upgrade later this month, so I believe the European Milestone and this brand new QRTY might also get the latest version of Android pretty soon. More details here and press release after the jump. [UV] Continue Reading

It seems that Motorola has listened to their customers complaints, as we know that Motorola Milestone was hitting Europe with just 256MB memory and 550MHz processor. We also know that actually it works fine running on Android 2.1 with that specs but we wish it could have a better performance if the phone has a better memory and processor. Though it wouldn’t be a free upgrade Motorola had told the media that RAM gets a healthy doubling to 512MB and the processor will be running 720MHz. We’ll give you the update after we heard about the launch date. [Engadget]

Good news for Every DROID users! folks, the Android 2.2 Froyo is now available to be upgraded. But please remember that this is unofficial yet, so if you brave enough to take any risk and you don’t want to wait any longer to feel the Froyo experience then you can update it HERE, and take a note that for now this version upgrade doesn’t support Wi-Fi yet. My suggestion is please be patient and wait a while until the official Froyo update from the Motorola company itself. [Gadgetell]
