The Samsung Galaxy Note, this niche device with a 5.3-inch touchscreen, is due to arrive in the UK soon. Over the past few weeks, its price over there kept changing, and none of the numbers popping up was low. First we were told it will go for £600, then that got changed to a whopping £670, and we were left wondering whether anyone would shell out that amount of cash for anything that isn’t an iPhone – 5.3-inch screen or not.
Well, we have some good news. Samsung seems to have understood that there is an upper limit to what you can charge people for a smartphone, high-end as it may be, and thus the company decided to take the price back down. To £594. That’s not much of a cut, but it’s something nevertheless. And the good news doesn’t stop there.
Initially we were told that the Galaxy Note would become available in the UK on November 17. But well known online retailer Clove now says it will receive its first Galaxy Note stock on November 1, so the launch has been brought forward, which can only be good news for those of you anxious to pick up this huge device.
If you’re interested in doing that, perhaps you should head over to Clove right now and pre-order one. You know, just so you’re sure to get it first.

Today, Samsung Electronics will file separate preliminary injunction motions related to communication standards in Paris, France and Milano requesting the courts to block the sale of Apple’s iPhone 4S in the respective markets.
In France and Italy, Samsung’s preliminary injunction requests will cite two patent infringements related to wireless telecommunications technology, specifically Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) standards for 3G mobile handsets.
The infringed technology is essential for reliable functioning of telecom networks and devices and Samsung believes that Apple’s violation as being too severe and that the iPhone 4S should be barred from sales.
Samsung plans to file preliminary injunctions in other countries after further review.

Few days back, Samsung offered a quick settlement to Apple to resolve the Galaxy Tab 10.1 launch in Australia. However, today Apple refused to the quick settlement, making it difficult for the Korean giant to launch the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia. The probable reason to reject the settlement offer by Apple is that they might be sensing a victory in the court. Unfortunately for Samsung, the launch of Galaxy Tab was postponed from August to September and now there seems a further delay.
Earlier, Samsung also agreed to withdraw two features from the Galaxy Tab 10.1 bringing down the disputed patent to one. Since the launch of Android based tablets, there has been a threat to the iPad market share. However, iPad still leads the tablet market share.
Apple and Samsung have also locked horns in various countries and are suing each other for smartphone and tablet patents.
