iPhone4s 531x5001 Apple iPhone 4S Now Available For AT&T, Sprint, And Verizon

Today, October 14th, is the big day. The Apple iPhone 4S is now available at the three major US carriers: AT&T, Verizon, and Sprint. All three carriers have their own advantage. Sprint is the only one with an unlimited iPhone 4S data plan, while AT&T claims to have the highest download speeds thanks to its HSPA+ network. If you choose Verizon, you’ll be getting the best nationwide call coverage.

Specs wise, the iPhone 4S spots that same 3.5-inch Retina display we saw on the iPhone 4, but with better hardware this time around. It has a better 8 megapixel camera with 1080p HD recording and the same dual-core A9 processor found in the iPad 2. The iPhone 4S runs on Apple’s latest mobile OS, iOS 5.0. Probably one of the coolest new features is Siri, your own personal assistant. Basically, you give Siri a task and she completes it. You can check out our in-depth look at Siri by our own Staska here.

If you were lucky enough to be one of the many who pre-ordered their iPhone 4S through Apple or through a carrier, congrats. If you weren’t as lucky, we have a full list of the places you’ll be able to go and grab an iPhone 4S . The obvious choice would be the Apple Store, although we don’t know how long it will take until they are sold out. Your next best bey is the carrier of your choice, although all three have been sold out online, they have all stated that they will carry some stock. RadioShack, BestBuy, Sam’s club, and Target are all good retail alternatives. If you plan on getting your iPhone 4S today or already pre-ordered yours, let us know how long it took you to get it and what your initial thoughts are on the device.

02 Sprint Total Equipment Protection Sprint Not Offering Total Equipment Protection For The iPhone

Bad news for folks planning to purchase an iPhone on Sprint’s network. According to a recently leaked internal memo – it looks like the carrier won’t be offering its Total Equipment Protection for the iPhone (for both the 4 and 4S). If consumers are concerned about the safety of their iPhones, they will have to fork out an extra $99 for AppleCare+. As usual, AppleCare+ can only be added at the time of purchase, so think hard and long before you decide to skip it or not.

But like with any insurance plan – you can go for years without using it, or you could run into trouble the very minute you step out of the store when you decide not to buy it. Sometimes it’s better to be safe than sorry, but if you know you can really take care of your phone you might not want to spend any money on it. The choice will be up to you.

Sprint may offer the iPhone 5 with unlimited data plans, unlike Verizon and AT&T

Apple iPhone 5 Sprint unlimited data Sprint may offer the iPhone 5 with unlimited data plans, unlike Verizon and AT&T

Although we still have to wait for an official confirmation on this, it looks like Sprint will finally get the chance to sell Apple’s iPhone (starting next month – October). We’ve already heard that Sprint could offer both the current iPhone 4 model, and the yet to come iPhone 5, and now we’re hearing even more details.

According to Bloomberg, Sprint wants to provide unlimited data plans to customers who will buy the iPhone. This way, the third largest US mobile carrier hopes to lure users from Verizon and AT&T, which don’t offer unlimited plans at all.

At the moment, Sprint’s unlimited plan (data and voice included) costs $99.99, and I assume the iPhone 5 unlimited plan will be priced similarly.

Sprint is expected to launch Apple’s new iPhone 5 in mid-October – just like AT&T and Verizon.

galaxy s2 Samsung Galaxy S II will be known as Samsung Epic Touch 4G at Sprint?

Sprint will be one of the carriers who will be offering the high end Samsung Galaxy S II, where it has been called the “Galaxy Within” sa discovered in a leak earlier this May under the accessories range. That might have been a red herring, since a new report has been released with Sprint’s version of the Galaxy S II being known as the “Samsung Epic Touch 4G”.

Touted for a September release, Sprint will also be offering a couple more smartphones to the masses come August 21st – the Samsung Conquer 4G and BlackBerry Curve 9350, aka Sedona.

You know what they say – a rose by any other name would smell just as sweet. Do you really care what your smartphone is called, and if you answered in the affirmative, just how much of a sway that would make in your purchase decision?

sprint torch 9850 Blackberry Torch 9850 is coming to Sprint

These BlackBerry 7 devices are finally starting to pop-up everything, sporting their carrier brand. We’ve seen the Torch 9850 with the Verizon brand on the hardware, and recently the 9860 for AT&T. Now, the Torch 9850 has stepped out again, but this time for Sprint. It has been pretty obvious that Sprint should be getting the Torch 9850, as it has shown up in a lot of leaked inventory slides. Nonetheless, this image is just one more step to signify it will be hitting the carrier sometime soon.

Samsung Google Nexus S 4G from Sprint is now free with contract

Samsung Google Nexus S 4G from Sprint is now free with contract

This one is a very special deal to those of you who like the operating system that your phone runs to be always the latest one. If you’re an Android fan, the only way to ensure that is to buy one of Google’s Nexus devices. The Nexus One is getting (more than) a bit old, so for now the only plausible option you’re left with is the Samsung-made Google Nexus S.

And while the Nexus S was never the most expensive device around, we haven’t ever seen it this cheap either. Caveats first. This is Sprint’s Nexus S 4G we’re talking about. So naturally you have to be willing to become a Sprint customer. Also, as always, a new two-year contract signing is required.

If you’re fine with the above, then perhaps you should pay a quick visit to either Best Buy or Amazon and pick up a Nexus S 4G. That’s since Best Buy now offers it for free, while Amazon charges a funny $0.01 for it.

For those of you who’d like to get an Android-powered smartphone but don’t know which one, get this. It may not have all the hardware bells and whistles but it’s still plenty capable. And you won’t need to worry about OS updates.

If you happen to need a phone that can endure anything you throw at it, whether it be the heat or a rock, the Motorola Titanium may very well be your next device.

The Motorola is well known for being a big communications supplier for the Military, so you know that you will be getting a military-grade device when you purchase the Titanium. The Titanium provides protection against dust, shock, low pressure, temperature, vibrations and solar radiation. This phone features a physical QWERTY keyboard, a 3.1 inch display, and a 5MP camera with video capture. The device runs on Android 2.1. A unique feature of this device is the Nextel Direct Connect support which allows you to get in contact with someone at the push of a button.

The Titanium is expected to ship on July 24th for $149.99 on a new two year contract. Sprint will also include a free 2 GB microSD card, although the memory is expandable up to 32 GB. This device will be a great buy for anyone who may require a tough phone for their work or just isn’t very careful when handling his device.
