When LG first revealed the Optimus Black, they didn’t mention anything regarding its arrival to US carriers. But now, the device seems to be hitting several US carriers. It seems the Tera-WURFL data base have an LG device with a model number US855 that also received a codename Black. The “US” portion of the model number indicates the device is heading to U.S Cellular.
Aside from U.S Cellular, the Optimus Black is also heading to Sprint, Alltel, and Virgin Mobile. The handset has been found in FCC as the LS855 (Sprint), AS855 (Alltel), and VM855 (Virgin Mobile). It would features a 4-inch 480×800 NOVA display, single-core 1GHz processor, 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, 2-megapixel front-facing shooter, 512MB RAM, and 1GB built-in storage. Unfortunately, the Optimus Black is packed with Android 2.2 rather than Android 2.3.

We’ve already got a pretty good idea that the LG Optimus Black is headed to US Cellular, but a recent FCC filing suggests it won’t be the only US carrier the handset will call home. An LG phone with the model number US855 has been joined by an LS855, As855, and VM855, with the first two letters all designating a carrier, the biggest of which being Sprint (the LS855). Alltel and Virgin Mobile will also see the handset if our logic pans out.
The Optimus Black is best known for its ultra-bright NOVA display technology, though the handset is often overshadowed by the Optimus 3D, which was announced around the same time. The Black has been greeted with relatively mixed reviews.

We broke this story not too long ago when a tipster sent us some pictures of his SPH-D600 on Sprint. We didn’t have an actual name to go on but it looks like that has changed with Samsung’s newest unveiling of the Conquer 4G for Sprint.
While I wouldn’t call the device a low-end phone, it does manage to hang somewhere in between mid-level and high-end. Lets start with some of the specs. The phone features a smaller 3.5-inch HVGA display, 3.2MP rear facing camera with a 1.3MP front facing camera, Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Sprint ID, and a 1GHz processor. Oh, and as the name suggests, its compatible with Sprint’s 4G network (where available).
Not to shabby for a budget friendly device. I feel like these specs here she be considered the minimum when shooting for a low to mid-level device. The speedy processor should be able to handle the low res display and Android 2.3 quite nicely. The only thing we’re waiting on now is pricing and launch date. Stay tuned for more.

Looks like Sprint is selling one of Samsung’s unannounced feature phones. Sprint has listed Samsung Trender on their website and is selling for $29.99 on a 2-year contract. For such a low asking price, Trender comes with a touchscreen display laden with TouchWiz UI, 3G support, a sliding four-row QWERTY keyboard, 1.3MP camera, browser, GPS, Bluetooth, microSD card slot and support for social networking sites.

Good news — a tipster passed along an internal calendar showing an April 25th employee training date for the Honeycomb tablet, and while we’re still taking it with a grain of salt, it seems like the real deal. If past products are any indication, it should hit Sprint stores a fortnight later, in early May, lining up nicely with those Xoom cases that were spotted a week back. The Nexus S 4G also looks to be slotted for employee training the same day, foreshadowing busy times ahead for the Now Network cashiers.

BusinessWeek reported that Sprint and T-Mobile planning to combined their power as the big third carrier with intention to compete with both Verizon and AT&T. In the meeting, Deutsche Telekom tries to negotiate with Sprint Nextel for a stake in the new entity in exchange of T-Mobile.
The deal has not been made official and the final conclusion is not reach yet. There’s several aspects to be reconsidered before both carrier finalize their decision. One of them is how many subscriber T-Mobile have last quarter. Another thing is their networking. T-Mobile uses GSM technology and HSPA+ for 4G on the other hand, Sprint uses CDMA and WiMax for its 4G services. We’ll can only wait and see what both carrier can do to reach a final conclusion.

Wе knew Sprint hаd something special up thеіr sleeves іn conjunction wіth Kyocera – аnd early reports confirmed іtѕ name wουld bе thе Echo – bυt details wеrе аnd still аrе scarce. According tο nеw updates bу Bloomberg аnd thе Wall Street Journal, bυt, thе device wіll indeed bе аn industry first.
Thе Kyocera Echo wіll bе thе first dual-screen Android handset. Aѕ thе Wall Street Journal dеѕсrіbеѕ іt:
Sprint Nextel Corp. plans tο unveil a smartphone late Monday thаt includes a twin set οf touch screens thаt give thе device a pseudo-tablet design, according tο a person familiar wіth thе device.
Thе device, called thе Echo аnd mаdе bу Kyocera Corp. οf Japan, features two 3.5-inch touch screens thаt саn bе stacked side bу side.
It аlѕο houses a pivot hinge thаt allows one screen tο bе tucked beneath thе οthеr. I’m having dіѕtrеѕѕ imagining thіѕ іn practice, ѕο I guess I’ll јυѕt hаνе tο wait until tonight tο see јυѕt whаt Sprint аnd Kyocera hаνе done. WSJ ѕауѕ users wіll bе аblе tο multi-task whіlе both displays аrе іn play.
Sοmе υѕе cases thеу provided wеrе obvious: уου сουld drag widgets οr icons frοm one screen tο another, οr simply carry out manifold tasks аt thе same time. Imagine running Twitter οn one side whіlе уου browse thе web οn another. It dοеѕ kind οf gеt mе excited, regardless οf thе manufacturer.
Thаt’s οnlу mе dreaming аt thіѕ point, though. Wе don’t know јυѕt hοw flexible thіѕ device wіll bе (software-wise, nοt hardware-wise), ѕο wе’ll bе looking forward tο thе unveiling later οn tonight іn Nеw York.

I believe there are more android tablets coming in CES, we have heard about a dual-core Tegra 2 touting devices so it’s easy to forget about the Samsung Galaxy Tab which very popular to take on iPad last year. Maybe that’s the reason Sprint has just dropped the price of Galaxy Tab to just $299.99 with a 2-year contract. This is $200 cheaper than the original $499.99 with 2-year contract that the Galaxy Tab started with.
Rumors has spread around the web, this price tag is due to the fact that the second generation of Galaxy Tab which has a 1.2GHz processor and 4G connectivity is on its way. but once more, there is no official confirmation yet. Stay Tuned with us.
