As you’re well aware just about every smartphone that gets announced or released now a days seems to include a front facing camera. Quite obviously, the hardware manufacturers intend for consumers to utilize these front facing cameras for video conference calls. As you also may know, Apple’s iOS currently has a native video conferencing application with FaceTime while Android users are left seeking third party applications.
However, it’s been rumored for quite some time that Google would come forth at some point to release a native video conferencing application but nothing official has been said thus far. Well, now a Twitter by the user name of MAFiA303 has went on record as saying that he’s been working with Samsung and has tested a video conference call using Gmail on the Nexus S. Of course, it’s unlikely that Google would actually implement a video conference application in Gmail as opposed to Google Talk so we’re just going to assume that’s what he means.
Unfortunately we don’t have any official confirmation to this but the Google I/O conference is just around the corner we’re sure to be hearing more quite soon if these rumors turn out to be true.
