Good news for Samsung Epix’ s owner, because today Samsung has released a new firmware update for the Windows Mobile smartphone. I’m surprised to hear that Samsung is still supporting the device though AT&T has stop the phone sales since Samsung Epic first release in 2008. You can now upgrade the Samsung Epix OS from WinMo 6.1 to WinMo 6.5. Check the official samsung site here.

After the Windows Phone 7 Series Announcement, Microsoft plans Windows Mobile 6.5 to be renamed by Windows Phone “CLASSIC”. I wonder why does Microsoft choose the CLASSIC word coz it sounds very old. The answer from Microsoft is that WinMo 6.5 will continue to be supported, and will coexist alongside the new Windows Phone 7. I don’t know what Microsoft might have planned once Windows Phone 7 available, will they abandon the Classic? What about the older version from WinMo 6.5? Should it be called SUPER-CLASSIC? [Gizmodo]
We know that T Mobile is an official partner of HTC HD2 and now Kevin Lewis, SVP of digital entertainment at Blockbuster, has confirmed the March 24th ship date for the T-Mobile HTC HD2. Lewis also talked about the Blockbuster application on the Windows Mobile handset. What for? This app will allow users to buy or rent new release movies playable on their phones. HTC HD2 owners can stop and pause a movie download, and continue watching it on an Internet-connected television or Blu-ray Disc player that features Blockbuster On Demand. Lewis called the T-Mobile/HTC deal is akin to putting “Blockbuster in your pocket.” [wmpoweruser]

I’m curious about the windows phone 7, what is thiss little thing can do? what about the graphics? what about the performance? and else. so why don’t we have a look on the video collection here.
“We had a chance to try out some of the prototypes – though not take photos or video yet – earlier on today, and first impressions are reasonably positive. Microsoft were at pains to point out that it’s still an in-development build, and indeed we saw various bugs and slow-downs. Often these would take place when opening an app, with data being pulled in but no on-screen indication of that taking place nor its progress. The touchscreen on the development device seemed responsive, as was the onscreen keyboard, and the animations are smooth. The browser supports pinch-zoom and will eventually reflow text on a double-tap.”
“Based on the basics that Microsoft demonstrated today, the platform appears to have a bright future. The user interface is simple but extremely useful. It’s clear Microsoft has looked at the criticism of Windows Mobile in the same way it did with Windows Vista and has stepped back and made a great product because of this. We’ll know a lot more about the developer strategy and applications at MIX 2010 next month but until then the underlying OS is a great start. Steve Ballmer, Microsoft CEO, confirmed that we should expect devices in time for the holiday season 2010 but Microsoft officials refused to give exact dates.”
Today Adobe announces that Flash won’t be supported on the first version of Windows Mobile 7. I wonder why but don’t worry Microsoft and Adobe are working to come up with a browser plug-in for Flash that will be released in the following versions of the Windows Mobile OS. According to Adobe “Microsoft and Adobe are working closely together. While the newest version of Windows Phone won’t support Flash at initial availability, both companies are working to include a browser plug-in for the full Flash player in future versions of Windows Phone. More details will be shared at Microsoft MIX next month.” I hope they working it out fast so the users won’t be disappointed because of this. [MW]
Things are going interesting day by day. Yesterday i told you that Microsoft will announce Windows Mobile 7 during MWC. And it’s confirm now. And after seeing the photo above. I think it’s solid confirm. But in this photo, another question is arising that what is this Windows Phone 7 Series? . May be it will be like Windows 7 . For example Windows 7 professional, premium etc. Or it could be due to the different chassis requirements possibly. But now, only one day is left. So lets grab the pop-corn and wait for the show . What you guys say?[PN via Engadget]
First it was just a rumor, but now, it’s a reality. Yes guys, The Wall Street Journal has recently confirmed that Microsoft will introduce its new mobile OS on Monday, February 15th during Mobile World Conference in Barcelona. And as you know that the Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is also coming, So i think it’s confirmed .Because Steve only comes in BIG announcements. The show will start at 3pm local time on Monday 15 February . The Wall Street Journal says:
At a wireless industry conference in Barcelona on Monday, the company plans to publicly show a new version of its cellphone operating system, Windows Mobile 7, for the first time, according to people familiar with the matter. The operating system sports a revamped user interface that resembles the look of Microsoft’s Zune HD music player, people who have seen it said.
So here we are . Here you can see that WSJ also claims that Windows Phone 7 will come with a new UI, resembling the one on Zune. And i dont think so MS will announce a Zune Phone .So it’s mean if WinMo 7 is coming then WinMo 6.5 is dead. . What you guys think about it?[Gizmodo]
